A chambray shirt has been a wardrobe staple of mine since I was 16 (literally for 7 years!). I still remember working my first retail job when I was 16 and me buying a chambray shirt on clearance for $19.99 because “the mom shirt wouldn’t sell.” I saw the potential and versatility of the piece right away and have loved it ever since. I typically have worn darker denim styles in the past, but I’m updating things with the fresh (and inexpensive) chambray shirt from Gordman’s today for work!
Everyone knows how to style a chambray shirt on their days off. Pair with white jeans, sandals, ripped black jeans or a floral skirt for an effortlessly put together off-duty look. But wearing it in the office can be A-ok too! Especially in the more laid back summer months.Since the silhouette of a chambray shirt is a classic button up blouse, you can play around with edgy and fashion-forward accents. A pencil skirt gets a modern update with an olive color and a faux leather finish. Keep your chambray shirt from looking too casual by tucking it in and finishing your outfit with polished jewelry.
I’ve always considered a chambray shirt as the swiss army knife of your wardrobe. It can truly do it all. If you want to know what your personal wardrobe staples are, take a look at what you pack when you travel and can only take a small bag. For me, my chambray top always makes the list.
