Transitioning Office Style to Off-Duty

IMG_6647

Even though I don’t exactly work in a corporate atmosphere anymore, I still find plenty of occasions where I need to look very professional. So, I decided to share with all you 9-to-5-ers how you can take your uber professional pant suit and break it up for a polished look at the office (no suits required) or even your day off.

First off, is the presentation or interview worthy matching suit. Rather than going with expected black, I love this navy windowpane option (find the blazer and pants here, plus the matching vest (that I adore) that’s only $58).

Note on the sizing: I would definitely size down on the pants. Normally, the Banana Republic Sloan pants look like skinny jeans on me and in the same size, these Avery pants were a bit big.

Now for the days you have a million items on your “to-do” list and transition directly from work to tackling that list. Simply change into some relaxed boyfriend jeans and loafers for a polished take on off-the-clock style.

Work these pieces into your closet by pairing a crisp button down with loafers and denim. My vote is still for a boyfriend style to contrast how put-together the top is.IMG_6729 IMG_6719 IMG_6710

The final look is perfect for those days where work don’t call for an uber professional pant suit, but you want to look equal parts stylish and professional.

I found during my time at Nordstrom that classic and tailored pieces with a bit of trend thrown in somewhere was the way to go. In this outfit, a timeless trench gets mixed with a merino wool turtleneck and windowpane trousers. The exclamation point comes in with the snakeskin pump/ Since both of the patterns are neutral and to scale of each other, it works seamlessly.

  2. Oh I love all of these looks you have created! The suit is stunning. And those shoes! Swoon. Then the jacket paired with boyfriend jeans is super chic and adorable. And then the third way you styled the pants and trench is equally amazing! I am loving all of this!
