Stripey + WIWW

IMG_0322_1Finding the balance between appropriate, fashion-forward and truely you in an work setting can be difficult. With my job at Nordstrom, I’ve even found that to be even more so. There is a clear “Nordstrom” type of style that I’ve picked up on that is different than my personal aesthetic. Also, my current role is a bit casual, yet I want to be professional and super polished. But after a month, I’ve seemed to hit my stride. I’ve defined my young professional uniform as a modest, yet fashionable dress, great heels and a leather jacket. I choose a leather jacket rather than a blazer because it adds that much needed edge, plus a third “polish” piece. Mika Rose has the best modest (and 9-to-5 approved) dresses to serve as a base.unnamed (3)IMG_0344 IMG_0362 IMG_0345 IMG_0328 IMG_0340

I agree with you Brenna, it can be a difficult path to navigate. Especially figuring out what the office culture is like with respect to fashion. In my experiences it’s typically been very basic in all the offices I have worked in, so I have to work hard to contain my personal style without coming off completely out of step with the office vibe.

I know, right?! I’m just lucky I’m in fashion, so I feel like it’s easier to be appropriate and express myself.

  4. Fabulous dress. I love how the stripes aren’t perfectly straight, it adds a different dimension to the dress. So pretty

    Hi Brenna!
Love the dress, looks great on you! I went onto Mika Rose website and was wondering: do the dresses fit true to size?

    Thank you!!!:)

      Hi Meg,

Thank you so much! In my experience, I think they run a tad big. But that is my personal opinion. If you are in between, I’d recommend sizing down.
