Spot & Dot

IMG_8188

Today, a pattern trio of dual dots and leopard spots spices up a preppy silhouette. My city-slicker look gets a plethora playful spots. The secret to mixing many spots, to keep you from looking like you escaped from the zoo is easy. First off, stay in the same color family, preferably a neutral one. In my case this is black, beige and cognac, creating a chic collaboration between the prints. Second of all, add solid, “break up” pieces to do exactly what the name says, break up the pattern. The final trick is to keep all the prints approximately the same scale, give or take. You can’t do leopard paired with microscopic dots mixed with gigantic spots, it confuses the eye.

What do you think of this spotted style?
