The older I get and the wiser I get with shopping and styling, the more I find myself splurging in little luxuries now and again. Fun fashion pieces are exactly that, fun for a while and then they are done. But lately, I have found myself craving something more substantial items that I will love for years and decades to come that will never go out of style.
It’s easy to get caught up in expensive clothing items because they make a statement, but I personally recommend investing in accessories, bags and shoes. They are much more versatile than any top could ever be, plus, no judgement will happen for wearing it more often than not.
Your go-to accessory helps define who you are, where you are going and who you want to be. I always can tell a lot about a person by their accessories, or lack there of. Someone who is wearing just a watch is typically very easy-going, fuss-free, but craves sophistication in the most timeless way. Someone who layers baubles has a very defined and expressive way of showing their personality and are very outgoing. Think of it as fashionable psychology.
Now, cue the new Ralph Lauren RL888 Collection. The tried-and-true Americana brand has always appealed to the classic and refined side of my personal aesthetic. But what I genuinely adore about the collection is its mass appeal and the ability to have these timepieces fit with so many different styles, aesthetics and overall lifestyle.
I always love what I call the “true luxuries.” By this, I mean leather in cognac, white and black, steel faces or gold watches that will outlast any trend. But the collection also features punchy hues of leather and the straps can easily be interchanged to switch up with your mood or to lend more options in less space when traveling.
What I love the most is the face. In a time where watches have become so incredibly minimal, I believe that you loose some of the personality and specialness of watches as well. Ralph Lauren brings all of that back in a classic shape and band with a refined face.
Instead of expected roman numerals, these watches feature a daring and edgy mix of Arabic and Roman numerals, that will make people take a double take (including Zach!)
