Reliving Our Wedding Day With Shutterfly
Wow, three months has flown by since we said I-do. Everything people say about your wedding day is right, it’s a big beautiful blur with stand out moments that you will cherish forever.
We got our beautiful wedding pictures back from Mikayla Dawn Photography a month ago and love them. Seeing them on a computer screen is one thing, but seeing your day relived in print is another. I was so overwhelmed after our wedding and wanted to put off making a photo book (just being real). That’s when a family member recommended Shutterfly and said their tools makes creating a gorgeous wedding book extremely easy and is very affordable. Let’s face it: traditional scrapbooking is so time consuming and expensive.
I sat down with a glass of wine and created a beautiful wedding book within one hour. Reliving the day during that hour was such a special thing. They even had a “vintage style” book that matched our Garden Gatsby wedding theme perfectly, so I could incorporate pre-styled accents as I pleased.
I chose a black genuine leather cover and double-thick pages so this book would last the test of time. Even though I went a route that was easy and partially already designed, Shutterfly’s wedding book tools allowed me to transcribe our vows, our first dance song and other personal anecdotes to make it reflect us and our wedding day perfectly.
So without further ado, here is the first glimpse of our wedding pictures.
Seeing our pictures in print, in a tangible book, is so different than seeing it on a computer. I loved surprising Zach with the book and then reliving our favorite memories of that day.
The little detail shots that are taken behind the scenes are so moving to see for the first time. It’s like being able to add minutes to that day after it is done and over with.
One page I knew I had to create was for our first look. This was one of the most moving moments of the entire day. We looked at each other and instantly started crying, because it finally set in that after two years of waiting, we would finally be husband and wife.
I was able to create my own layout that allowed me to place pictures side by side to truly show the progression of the emotions on Zach’s face.
I loved playing around with our favorite photos in different arrangements, like putting our dress and suit details side by side.
The most impactful page included a three-fourths photo that shows me crying after Zach read his vows. I love that you are able to extend a photo across the crease, it really makes the image so real and raw. Then I transcribed our vows – using the audio from our wedding video – and found fonts that actually resemble our individual handwriting.
We are so looking forward to sharing this book with our families during the holiday season and having it as a chic coffee table book for years to come.
