Photo Diary: Corfu

As many of you know, I spent this last weekend on the beautiful island of Corfu, Greece in the middle of the Ionian Sea. I already am longing for more time spent barefoot on a beach, one weekend was not long enough.

My whirlwind of a weekend at the famous Pink Palace started out with a welcome shot of Uozo (the traditional Greek shot), a intense, black licorice flavored liquor. I swore I would never drink it again, but that was a lie.

The next day was a dare-devil expedition all around the island via a four-wheeler. The tight turns, drop off cliffs and crazy Greek men on their vespas made it a complete adventure. Our guide was even taking turns on just the two left side wheels, going thirty miles per hour, taking a turn, mind = blown.

My last day was a kayak safari in the crystal-clear waters of the turquoise sea. After a hour of rowing (then I didn’t feel so bad for drinking all that Uozo), we arrived at a land mass that was perfect for cliff jumping. After scaling a gigantic, extremely jagged rock – surprisingly without hurting myself – I took the invigorate plunge into the waters below.

My weekend concluded with a massive toga party, complete with “oppa” yelling, plate breaking and greek dancing. I felt like I was in the middle of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Have any of you ever been to Corfu?

As always, thank you for reading.
