Wow. That is all I have to say to all of you. This experience, this city, this country in general is just unbelievable. I am adjusting to the Italian way very quickly. Yesterday my roommates and I went to “The Mall” which is a gigantic cluster of all things fabulous… at outlet prices. Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Prada… you name it. It was there.
Unfortunately, I walked out with a light load, meaning no purchases. It was a sad day. We all learned fast that the outlets are a dog-eat-dog (or girl fights girl) battle for designer goods. I feel in love with a pair of Valentine red suede bow heels (cue the sigh) only to be devastated to find there was only one pair, and the size was a mere half-size too large for me. I was about to buy them anyway when my roommates had an “intervention.” They were right, never buy anything unless it fits flawlessly or can be tailored. Just my luck, the ruby-hued pumps were neither.
But as we were dragging our (tired) feet back to our flat, my eyes light up, screaming, “stop!” I saw the most beautiful little red bag in a store window, immediately B-lining it towards the subtle leather. I didn’t save to even think about it, I was sold.
