When the trend of loafer’s first emerged I was skeptical at best. “A grandpa shoe, really?” But my stiletto-loving self much too quickly dismissed the comfy-chic style.
Once arriving here in Florence, they are everywhere. Suede, leather, tassels, leopard, and woah, quilted? My heart stopped as I was walking out of a little shop (on my way out, a new LBD for Firenze’s Fashion’s Night Out in hand) when I literally stopped so suddenly, my poor friend walking behind practically clobbered me, but I didn’t care. I was fixated on those loafers.
I had just been mentioning how I need a new, black and “walkable” (read: cobblestone streets + 7 miles of walking a day) shoes, and there they were. I nervously flipped over the shoe to reveal a shockingly low price of 14.90 Euro and my exact size… 38. I won the loafer lottery.
So I would like to retract my prior comment/thought of the “grandpa shoe,” for now, I am a love of loafers.
