First Impressions

IMG_9357

No matter where you go or what you do, one thing remains the consistent: first impressions are everything. I was once told it takes a mere seven seconds to create that imprint on someone else’s mind.

Because the afforementioned is well-known knowledge, it still amazes me how lackadaisical people are about their appearances and what they wear to work. I strongly believe that being the epitome of professional doesn’t have to mean loosing your personality. For instance, all of my “signature” style touches are included in this outfit. I am wearing a touch of leopard. a gold statement necklace and an edgy bag that is the opposite of boring.

For the first impression, always err of the side of utter professionalism. Nothing too tight, short or skin-bearing is obviously good judgement. I got myriad of compliments on my outfit but I realized quickly that thanks to being placed in a more casual buying pod, I can have a few more liberties with work wear in the future.

Great outfit. I love that you showcased your individual style while keeping it professional. The shirtdress always adds an effortless but sophisticated flair. Love it! How is your internship going so far? I’d love to hear what a day in the office is like 🙂

    • Hi Stephanie,

Thank you so much! I completely agree with the shirtdress thing. It’s going great but I have to not disclose too many details for confidentiality reasons – hope you understand.

Totally understand! Good luck and keep those posts coming. I’ll be seeking out my own fashion internship in the next year and love to see your posts.

        • Thank you for understanding! And good luck! It’s tough to find one but when you do it’s so worth it.

  4. Perfect look. The contrast between the necklace and dress is a great idea

That’s impressive. I wouldn’t even consider this dress from looking at the website. They should use your pics and it would sell like crazy! 🙂

So cute! And so true about first impressions needing to be more professional looking. But question — I’m an accounting major so hoping for an accounting internship next summer but I don’t think I can have nearly as much fun with my outfits there as you obviously do!! Any tips on how to look professional but still maintaining style? Thanks!

    • Thank you so much! I think you could totally do something like this! As long as the amount of skin shown is on the conservative side, have fun with print and color.
