Emerald Sea

Hello everyone! I Hope you’re powering through your week with ease. If you are, that makes one of us.

I’ll avoid being melodramatic about my finals week for a moment and do a bit of a flashback to last week, when I explored the island of Malta.

Not even a couple of hours after we landed, we found ourselves in “The Silent City,” known as Mdina. It was Malta’s ancient and enclosed capital, bordered by honey-hued stucco walls. The narrow and winding streets seemed to teleport you back in time to when the Arabian’s ruled this strategically placed island.

For a day of getting lost within history (and just plain getting lost), I sported a tropical color palate of emerald and cobalt, cast upon a dark wash denim jacket. Being resourceful – and by resourceful I mean finding nine ways to wear one item – think one case for an entire semester ladies, I found myself wearing this typical outerwear piece as a blouse in itself, giving it a preppy spin with a popped collar. I threw in a little leopard into the colorful mix for good measure and I spent my day having the refreshing sea breeze blow the emerald pleats of my skirt.

In case you guys didn’t notice, that major roman numeral bracelet I’m sporting is my new go-to arm statement. I got it via this great affordable fashion source known as Luxe Auctions. What they do is provide fixed price auctions through Facebook on the most beautiful fashionable jewelry and accessories at the most amazing prices. Even better, they offer limited quantities of jewelry and apparel in current trends and classic styles – which I am all for mixing the two. Auctions are held through daily and weekly flash sales on a “first come, better get it” basis until the item sells out. To win an auction all you have to do is comment “Sold” next to the picture of the item on Facebook and be one of the first to do so and you “win” the auction and receive an invoice moments later! It’s fun and fashionably addictive… and every item is priced under $40 so it’s also affordable fashion that looks luxe, hence the name.
