Traveling full-time and being focused on creating a really versatile capsule closet has made me really reevaluate my spring style. I feel like it is so easy to default to peasant tops and boho-chic pieces – especially because they are everywhere – but I am opting out of them all together. Nothing against the boho style, particularly if that is your thing. But like many people, I now have limited closet space and everything needs to work in a lot of different ways. I am taking a more classic approach to warmer weather style and approach sexy in a way that is sophisticated.
I look for items that have great value. This is not about price or quality necessarily, but more about how many times I will wear it and how many ways I can wear it. This black shirtdress is exactly what my capsule closet needs. It is a really timeless and chic cut and can be worn buttoned, unbuttoned, with booties and a leather jacket (for fall) or with sandals and a Chanel brooch for a warmer day. I sized up based on the reviews.
I just discovered this SkinnyShirt brand and I am obsessed with this bow top. They are meant to be layered without any bulk or look sleek on their own (right up my alley!) I got because it will look amazing in the fall underneath a chunky sweater or down in Key West in May with some high waisted shorts. And it is only $66 before the sale. I also am loving this menswear inspired option too.
I have been wearing a ton of blush lately and each time I do, I always like I need a pair of sunglasses that is different than the tortoise or black that I typically wear. I scooped these rose gold sunnies for just $60 (before the sale).
Next, I’ve been searching for the perfect summer sandal that has a heel to it that I know I can walk in, no problem. These white ones fit that exactly and weren’t $500 – unlike every cute shoe I seem to fall in love with. They also come in nude!
Are you also obsessed with the Hermes slide sandal you’ve probably seen all over Instagram? I love how elevated it makes a basic slide style but I just can’t handle the $800+ price – I’m just so hard on my shoes. One trip and I’ve cuffed nearly $1,000 and that thought makes me cringe. These Sam Edelman slides are nearly identical and are only $80 before the sale.
Finally, this watch. I’ve had my eyes on it since it came out and just haven’t pulled the trigger. It is even more gorgeous in person and the square face is a welcome addition to my watch collection.
