This week’s capsule closet post is all about late summer style. You know that period of time when all you want to do is drink PSLs while wearing chunky layers (but if you did, you’d probably have a heat stroke). This is about embracing the last bit of warm in the most stylish way.
I like incorporating fall-inspired pieces that don’t add too much warmth. Examples include a longline vest, great-fitting denim, light-weight long sleeve blouses and wool fedoras. Because I know on more occasions than once, I have jumped the gun on fall fashion and ended up in coated jeans in 90 degrees (hint: not a good idea).
I’ve been styling my T-shirt dresses more often than I usually do, because honestly, they are SO comfortable. We spend so many hours driving, that for the first time, comfort has actually became a priority. It’s amazing what a great pair of shoes and a statement accessory can do to such a basic piece. I’m also soaking in the last few bits of shorts weather that I can before the chillier days kick in.
About The Capsule Closet:
Long story short, after years of traveling and living out of suitcases during study abroad, out of state internship and such, I became an expert on creatively styling basics with a limited amount of pieces and never repeating a single outfit.
Like many, before I created a capsule closet, I had a wardrobe overflowing with clothes but had “nothing to wear.” This is where my Ultimate Capsule Closet Checklist comes in. After years of editing, styling and seeing trends come and go, these were the pieces that pulled their weight and never really went out of style.
Once I created The Ultimate Capsule Closet, I felt inspired, stylish and chic with much less effort. Looking stylish while traveling was much simpler and I got rid of 90% of my closet (and didn’t miss it at all).
As always, thank you for reading.
